Ruffles, I want more! That’s so me..the more..not the ruffles.

12 yards of ruffles and 24 yards of french lace is gorgeous!

Heirloom Lavender Romper with imported Swiss Embroidery SOLD!

New stuff in the store finally and working on others. Lots of lacy and ruffles everywhere in the studio!

Actually finished over 225 yards of ruffle edge Tuesday (both sides). It was almost peaceful and Zen like to do it all at once. Now if the powers that be could just make a Serger that didn’t sound like a flipping jack-hammer I would do it again today. Dang that thing is so loud I couldn’t hear anything else going on in the house. Today I still feel the vibration in my bad hand…and my tushy…(the floor was even vibrating me through the stool). Oh the joys of sewing.

Off to put it all together, and pin it. Should be posting new stuff again on Friday God willing! Already sold the purple heirloom outfit and need another up soon!

New How to video coming next week on working with “poor man’s lace”. Very appropriate to the current sad economy. We need some light hearted clothing to not feel so weighed down don’t you think?

Lessons from our “on-site grandparenting” weekend.

We all are surviving the new experiences and learning a lot. WordPress is rejecting my photo’s this morning. When I finally got them uploaded the captions only show if you hold your mouse over them.

No time for sewing, cleaning, cooking or writing as our schedules are in absolute chaos but Hey, that’s okay. We don’t get to do this but 1-2 times per year. So here’s an update on our experiences (all of our experiences).

Omaw and Opaws’ lessons for the weekend:

  1. Take your vitamins and drink a lot of water, you are not as young as you used to be.
  2. Thank GOD for volume controls on the television remote.
  3. Passing out from exhaustion solves insomnia.
  4. Don’t forget the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs you just installed. Flipping over it could be painful in the middle of the night.
  5. Turn on the lights in the living room at 4 am or you might break your hip or ankles.
  6. After you feel the squish on the carpet, it is too late.Note to self.. Pick up more carpet shampoo, better yet remove carpet before next visit.

Granddaughter Learned and trained her Texas Grandparents with fervor:

  1. Opaw’s name is actually Paw-paw and they ALL must learn this immediately!
  2. Opaw’s are good at teaching you how to put on your shoes, nobody else does it RIGHT.
  3. Opaw’s have special auras and therefore are asked by granddaughters to  do only special things: like, accepting ALL the video’s I bring him no matter how many there are. He is obviously in charge of the TV. (smart kiddo:. She does this every night and is so pleased with herself with each delivery, to their rightful owner, that she is beside herself with giggles.)
  4. Omaw’s chair is “where it’s at” and the best seat in the house. It doesn’t matter where or what chair…just HER chair is where I must be.
  5. Omaw lets me watch Gaelig cartoons on her computer whenever I want . If I clap, she will sing me Gaelig songs and we can RUN… until she has to lay down in the floor from all the jumping around. When she does that … I must wait for her to recover before she can move again.
  6. The Bonnet song is more fun outside, I can really RUN with it there.
  7. The Bonnet song stops if you don’t watch it.
  8. Cold hands on Omaw’s tummy… makes Omaw scream.
  9. If Omaw puts something IN something… then my job is to remove it.
  10. No matter what, Omaw will “splain it” whatever it is.
  11. Scrambled eggs can be flung a full 5 feet from ones chair with very little effort. The secret is all in the wrist action.
  12. Food in the carpet is not a problem. Step on the food then pivot around and you can watch Omaw’s eyes roll back in her head and faint dead away.
  13. If there is screaming on the tele then… it is time for me to scream also.
  14.  ½ a gold fish will be sucked up by the vacuum. …A whole one will be spit across the room so I can go fetch it and eat it.
  15. Paw-paws don’t follow the rules of decorum. Paw-paws pick up baby girls no matter what. There is no need to walk if Paw-paw is in the room or with in earshot.
  16. The food on Paw-paws’ plate always tastes better than mine.
  17. Paw-paws  worry non-stop about choking hazards. They sneak up and remove things so fast I have whiplash from keeping an eye on him.
  18. Dirt is softer than grass and I really like to play in it just like Omaw and Mimi.
  19. Roses smell good. A whole one will fit in your mouth. Funny they don’t taste as good as they smell.
  20. Kitty’s have ways to escape me…for now.

The CAT’s weekend lessons: 20 year old diabetic cat only has a few defenses against  a 1 year old. He learned REAL fast.

  1. Lay very very still and maybe she won’t notice, . And
  2. Watch the child carefully above all… if there is a long handled spoon, or other protruding object in her hand run outside tut-sweet.
  3. Allowing Baby to put her feet on you is less painful than her fingers in your ears.
  4. Watch those feet, they do have a tendency to kick , listen for the squeal and MOVE quickly when you hear it.
  5. It does not matter if it’s cold outside, at least it’s quite and safe.
  6. Cats shed badly when under stress. I will be bald in 7 days

Ready set go, how I do it at warp speed with the Gaelig

It’s 6 am ….and it has been one weird ol’ week. What with the stalkers and accidents…  and the cat whose eyes swelled shut and the other that hurt her leg AGAIN.

Luna pre car chasing phase

Hubby got a new job and Daughter is on her way with the grand babies so the next 7-10 days is going to be a wild ride! I have got to MOVE!

Here’s the music I listen to, while I’m going warp speed…

These are also connected to my Facebook sight.

Warning, don’t click if you are trying to relax!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdO-JqtDPTw&feature=related

I call it the Bonnet song

I don’t have time to be discouraged or overwhelmed! I just turn on that Julie Fowlis and GO! Can’t sit still listening to THAT can you?

Here is a place to just keep listening:

http://www.myspace.com/juliefowlis

Now which direction do I need to go while I’m dancing about?

I need to baby proof the house, clean the carpets, muck the Rose garden, Stock the pantry, Fight back the ironing sprawl, bath the cats, change the sheets and was all the slip covers…. YEAH, RIGHT! HAHAHAHAHAH.

Note to self, Glass breaks,,,remove it.

I have found an actual FLAW in the Lady Iris Jean way of doing things this week. Grandbabies are new to this house and as I started the pr-cleaning prep … I had flash backs of Daughter at age 1 at Lady Iris Jean’s house. She was a holy terror. Thankfully she wasn’t a climber. My only hope is that this one isn’t either. THE Mimi was a stickler for cleanliness and order just like I am BUT, ..Daughter lives with 3 dogs and a Marine and a one year old. I mean so really…how clean do I need to go here?

Note to self remove the antique lamp and table.. Maybe I should just have them sleep in the garage? No, the cats sleep in there and they would be upset. I’ll figure it out somehow.

There will be crumbs, juice, spit, drool, spills and the occasional bodily fluid all over the place by the end of the 1st day. Put a woooooow on that there clean machine honey! Whites…thank god for bleach huh’ Mom?

At least I have a home carpet cleaner and you didn’t!

We have a saying in our family: “Is it clean or is it Mimi clean?”

Uhmmm, I think we are going to just have a plain clean.

Hubby and I have people over every Sunday and he got really exasperated this last week. He said ,” These people aren’t your mother and they won’t notice that dirty place on the sugar container just turn it over. Besides, she probably wouldn’t have noticed it either.”

Lay Iris Jean

Me: “ Yeah, you are probably right about the group and No mom wouldn’t say anything, we’d just find her in here cleaning it and she’d say “I’m just helping you, this looks like it’s hard to clean and I don’t mind, where do you keep your bleach?”.

Umm, yeah. Not going to happen this week I’m afraid.

So the list just got smaller. I figure the spring-cleaning will commence the day they LEAVE.  Baby and Daughter have been cooped up in a cold wet house for months and while it is wet here, at least it’s 70-80 everyday. We can all go play in the yard. Mark off another chore AND add baby proof the yard.

So that leaves (no pun intended), …a do – able list of fill the pantry, and baby proofing the universe as I know it…Yeah, maybe I can sew on… like Friday!

I found an old 1920-1930 baby romper pattern and whipped up 3 real fast. Heirlooming them, takes goobs and gobbs of time. I used lots of Swiss embroidery and insertion and oodles of lace. (Like about 5 yards of this amazing French edging (just on one little hiney! and 1-2 yards of the other stuff) I still have 1 to top stitch and 2 leg elastic weaving’s to do but I’m really pleased. What do ya think?

Ill be listening to this one for the hand work:

Oh… and Dear Lubbock Auntie the one with the Lacey shoulders I made with you in mind. Kisses!

Lace, embroidery and ruffles with polkadots!

Swiss embroidery, swiss lace and roses, so lovely!

This week I’m sure I’ll be singing this one A LOT ( about a complaining daughter) I PLAN to teach the LICKY-NAY song to the Grand babies!

Laugh so hard you cry..it’s good for you.

A must read about police, giraffes, and children. This is PRICELESS

Photos/Words Stickers/Books

We are a gang of idiots and by we, I mean us, all of us, you and me and those people over there, yes, them.

That’s exactly why we have laws, because we are too damn stupid to control ourselves, we need parents to slap our wrists and remind us we are too damn stupid to control ourselves, lest we burn our hands on the hot flame of danger.

When I was pulled over this morning I immediately checked my speed, because I am very careful about how fast I go on highways. There was a time that I liked to drive incredibly fast in small sports cars that could drive incredibly fast. Not anymore. I am older and slower. My reflexes dulled by years of abuse of one sort or another.

There is a new law in my state. You can no longer text while driving. Again, because we…

Utter Fail

What I was doing in the kitchen.

Well folks, believe it or not, I have been typing this blog in a blank square for over a year total time. No, I am not kidding. I have never had any type of  editing buttons and have been uploading pictures to the library on the dashboard the WHOLE time.

All I have ever had was a square in the middle of the page. My chest hurts and I’m a wee bit dizzy but…ya see….

I thought, because I’m a cheep-scape …, that you paid EXTRA for that little feature.

Uhmm, well. I was looking up something in the support pages and it said to click on the visual editor.

I DIDN”T HAVE ONE!

So I queried THAT and low and behold…

Hey did you know there is an entire toolbar with bullets and everything.

Well call me naked and slap my Momma. Who Knew?

OH -MY GOD… it is even suggesting tags for me…A little bizarre at first glance.

Electrician

Parkinson’s disease

HOBBIT…?

Put those all together and…never mind.

Ever have one of those days?

I worked on heirloom-ing little cloths all day and took some pictures when my eyes uncrossed and was going to up load…. Never mind.

For now, no more head shaking or planking…I’ll get to work on the blog this whole thing started as 2 hours ago….Later.

I'm going to bed, things are just not working out.
